In many cases this is a cheaper, more flexible and more efficient option than hiring a skip. Not only will you be able to dispose of twice as much waste, but you also won’t need to worry about getting a permit from your local authority if it needs to go on the street.

Our 32-tonne lorries are fitted with cranes and a clam bucket attachment that enables them to clear just about anything from anywhere. And all of our grab hire operators are fully licensed, trained, experienced and insured – giving you complete peace of mind.

We’ve put together some handy FAQs to help you find answers to the most common questions about our grab hire service.

How far does the grab crane reach?

All waste will need to be positioned no more than 4.2m (14ft) from the side of the lorry.

How big/heavy are your lorries?

Our lorries are on average 9m L x 2.5m W x 4m H (including crane) and weigh 32 tonnes when fully loaded.

What access does the lorry require?

If we need to reverse into an opening, we will need at least 2.6m (8ft 6in) width available.

Who loads the lorry?

We do. However, we recommend having someone on hand to clear and tidy as we go.

How long will loading take?

As a general rule, loading takes between 45 minutes and one hour.

Will you park anywhere?

No, we do not park anywhere that is dangerous for our staff, customers, vulnerable road users or members of the public.

Where do you operate?

We currently cover Greater London, Bedfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Essex, Hampshire, Hertfordshire, Kent, Surrey and West Sussex.

Is grab hire better than hiring a skip?

There are advantages and disadvantages to both. However, in most cases it’s cheaper and more efficient to clear your waste using a grab hire service.

How many bulk (jumbo) bags of rubbish can you fit on your trucks?

Approximately up to 20, but it will also depend on their combined weight.

How do I book?

What are my responsibilities regarding access to my premises?

Regarding access to your premises, in order for us to perform the service you require, please consider the following:

PARKING RESTRICTIONS
If there are any parking restrictions in place, you need to request an exemption with your local authority.

GATES
Will we need to pass through any gates? If so, please ensure that the width of our trucks can accommodate access to your property.

RESTRICTION BARS
If there are any height restriction bars or low bridges en route to your property, please inform us so we can plan our route accordingly and avoid any delays.

PARKED CARS
Parked cars can pose a significant issue when we arrive at your property.

If cars are parked opposite your premises and the road is not wide enough, you may need to reserve the space or ensure the cars can be moved before our driver arrives.

Please also consider that roads near schools may require special attention during certain hours.

ROOTS AND TREES
Please be mindful of any tree roots our trucks might drive over, as this could damage them and affect the health of the trees.

In addition, overhanging trees, whether on your road or property, can cause damage to our vehicles and create hazards for the public.

WIRES
Overhead wires are common hazards and can be extremely dangerous to the public, our team members, and our vehicles.

Please notify us of any overhead cables on your property that may pose a risk. When we provide services, such as using grab lorries, please bear in mind that some vehicles can extend their arms, increasing the overall height when loading.

WEIGHT RESTRICTIONS ON THE ROAD
Our trucks exceed 7.5 tonnes, so please inform us if there are any weight restrictions on the roads leading to your property.

Additionally, when booking a service, consider the surface on your premises, such as grass, pavement, or tarmac.

Please remember that our trucks are heavy, and we all want to ensure our drivers complete the job safely and without causing any damage.

NOTES
If we are unable to access the job due to any of the issues mentioned above, a cancellation fee of £100 + VAT will apply.

If any of the issues outlined above result in our driver receiving a PCN (Penalty Charge Notice) or FPN (Fixed Penalty Notice), you will be responsible for covering the cost.
